Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta was all smiles when asked if he had seen Gunner’s Mykhailo Mudryk’s latest social media activity.

Asked if he had started following Mudryk on social media, Arteta burst out laughing before delivering his answer.

He said: “What I would say is how good I am with the phone. You know we cannot talk about any other players.

“There is some interest in some things that we would like to do to improve the team because we are a bit short in certain areas and with injuries that we picked up.

“But we are trying as a club we are determined to try and improve the team in every window and that’s what we are trying to do.’

Chelsea could yet throw a late spanner in the works amid reports they will attempt to hijack the deal, but Arsenal is said to be increasingly confident of signing their No.1 target after offering £62m before add-ons.

Arsenal submitted a third bid for the Shakhtar Donetsk winger on Thursday evening and is nearing an agreement with the Ukrainian club.

Mudryk has been desperate to secure a move to the Premier League leaders and posted a series of less-than-subtle hints on his social media accounts.

The Gunners will on Sunday travel across north London to face Spurs.
