Brighton & Hove Albion are reportedly planning to offer Kaoru Mitoma a new record-breaking contract to fend off interest from a number of top clubs, including Arsenal, Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich.

The 25-year-old Japanese international winger has been a key player in Brighton’s impressive campaign this season, with 14 goal involvements in 26 Premier League appearances.

Mitoma arrived at Brighton for a fee of just £2.7m in 2021, but his performances have seen his valuation skyrocket to around £35m.

Despite interest from top clubs, Brighton is determined to keep the attacker and is willing to offer him a record deal to make him the highest-earning player in the club’s history.

Mitoma, who delayed signing a professional contract with Kawasaki Frontale at 19 to attend university and write a thesis on dribbling, is currently under contract until 2025.

He will be hoping to secure a place in the FA Cup semi-finals when Brighton faces Grimsby in the quarter-final today.

But the Seagulls are set to fend off interest in him by offering the ace and record deal to make him the club’s highest-ever earner.

Meanwhile, Mitoma will be hoping to secure a day at Wembley on Sunday when Brighton face Grimsby in the FA Cup quarter-final.
