Sunderland will be looking to end a three-game losing streak at home to Norwich City this weekend. The Black Cats’ tricky run continued on Tuesday night, losing 1-0 to league leaders Leicester City.
Tony Mowbray’s side fell at the hands of a James Justin header, pushing them out of the Championship play-off spots.
Norwich City was defeated too. They lost 2-1 to Middlesbrough, with Jonathan Rowe’s consolation proving too little too late as goals from Sam Greenwood and Sammy Silvera condemned the Canaries to a fourth game without a win.
The run has seen Norwich drop to 14th in the Championship table and has put increasing pressure on manager David Wagner.
Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…
James Ray
“Both these sides are in a tough spot at the moment. Sunderland and Norwich have ambitions of fighting for promotion but on their current form, they’re sliding away from the play-off spots.
“I am a little more concerned about the Canaries though. Their total of 24 goals conceded is the joint-worst in the league alongside strugglers QPR and given some of the attacking talent we’ve seen from Sunderland before, they could be punished here.
“I think the hosts might get back on track here. It could be close but I’m going for a Sunderland win.”
